Comment: Another my three-year old piece which is still relevant now. How correctly did I get everything already three years ago!
Some people who see how the Woke push things to dangerous extremes, still justify them because 'they fight for a good cause', because 'they're fighting against bigotry'. Hence, they still support the Woke, even when the Woke burn and loot, cancel and verbally abuse, because they want to be on the 'good', 'not bigoted' side. This is a very wrong and dangerous moral choice. Why?
First of all, what makes your cause 'good', is not only your ideology and what you stand for, but also your actions in order to achieve your goals. Ends almost never justify the means, in my belief. So if you employ violence and verbal abuse in order to achieve equality and justice, then you undermine, pervert and corrupt your very goals by your actions. Equality and justice aren't built on abuse and violence, never. Secondly, when you fight bigotry with fanatical intolerance and radical unforgiving stance, you're turning into a bigot yourself. Because bigotry in it essence is intolerance and narrow-mindness. By your radical intolerant stance against bigotry, you're becoming a bigot yourself. That might not be that obvious for those people, and that's why it's so very dangerous.
More importantly, I had already written enough about 'good cause'. There is a good Russian proverb - 'Road to Hell is paved with good intentions'. It's very easy to fall into a trap of 'ends justify the means' with 'fighting for a good cause'. But if we elaborate on 'good and evil causes', do you really believe that any evil person in this world actually acts for evil's own sake? That they do even realize that they're evil? Or, even more so, that they 'make a wrong moral choice on purpose because they're just assholes'? The last bit is what most Woke Lefties believe about Trump supporters, by the way, which only proves their absolutely inadequate view of reality.
In truth, however, almost no one, save some very few sadistic psychopaths, make evil actions with evil intentions, or do evil for evil's own sake. No, in many cases, the wrongdoers believe that they were actually doing the right thing, and were acting for a greater good. Or, if they were unable to deceive themselves about the true nature of their actions, they still justified them with some 'noble goals' - again, 'ends justify the means'. For example, Stalin, before he became power-obsessed paranoid maniac, truly believed that he was building 'a bright new world'. Such a pity that building of this 'bright new world' required so many human sacrifices. He also believed that he acted for the 'glory of Russian state', at least initially. So did Mao.
I'm telling all of it not to justify Stalin or Mao's atrocities by their allegedly 'good intentions'. In the contrary, my main point is that GOOD INTENTIONS NEVER JUSTIFY EVIL ACTIONS. So, if you practice physical violence and verbal abuse in order to achieve your noble goals, you're still evil. Because your action are evil. Because ends don't justify the means. Period. So, when you try to justify the wrongdoings of the Woke by their allegedly 'good intentions' (though at this point I'm not sure even of their real intentions, maybe some of the Woke at least had already reached the level of sadistic psychopaths who enjoy to inflict pain for pain's own sake), you're making a hideous mistake. Basically, by this logic you can justify also Stalin and Mao's atrocities. Why? Because their intentions were also 'good'. Stalin and Mao truly had an intention which might be considered good by many people (to build bright new socialist world!). Just as modern Woke. It didn't prevent them from spilling more blood than Hitler on their way, though.
So, never fall into a trap of 'ends justifying the means'. Never side with wrongdoers if their 'cause is good'. Never make a mistake of allying with the Woke, then. Standing up against the Woke radicalism, violence and verbal abuse wouldn't make you a 'bigot', and wouldn't put you on 'bigoted side' even. It would make you simply a good-hearted human being who can't stand it when the evil is happening under your very nose. While if you'd keep being silent about it, siding with the Woke because 'their cause is just', you would allow them to keep doing their evil with impunity, and even contribute to multiplying of their evil. It's entirely your choice what to do there - stand up against the evil, or keep endorsing it.
The Woke are No Better than Bigots
In addition to that, I wanted also to show that in truth, there is not much difference between the Woke and the 'bigots' whom they condemn. As I said before, in its essence bigotry is intolerance and narrow-mindness and blindness to any other worldview than one's own. The Woke exhibit all of it, and therefore, they are also bigots.
But 'their intentions' are good, some people would argue again. Even if their actions are evil, which makes them evil as well, still, because of their 'good intentions' they are still better than actual bigots, like racists or homophobes (whose intentions are evil as well). In the same way, that Stalin and Mao were still better than Hitler because, unlike him, they had 'good intentions'. But again, WERE THEY BETTER?
When we speak of intentions, we shouldn't forget the subjective factor, that different human beings, depending on their upbringing, religion, culture, and yeah, also mental health, have different morality, different values and views. What's 'good' for us, might be 'bad' for someone else, and vice versa. Even if something is bad on more or less universal human level, still, some mentally sick individuals (like Hitler) might still consider it to be 'good'. So, in their own view, they still would be heroes rather than villains. Their intentions would still be impeccable in their own view, even if they are completely evil for us.
If we came to less extreme examples than Hitler, like homophobia or sexism, even here, homophobes and sexists don't actually believe themselves to be evil, and don't act for the evil sake. They believe (either due to their religion, family upbringing, etc.) that homosexuality is wrong and bad thing. Hence, they judge people who, in their view, embraced those 'vile sins'. Again, their belief is wrong, but in their view, it's right. In their view, it's we who are doing evil by protecting one's sexuality instead of condemning people for it. In their view, it's gays who are 'bad guys', and, hence, to hurt them (to imprison them, to beat them, to shun them and to discriminate against them) is acceptable. Because they're 'bad guys', after all. So does it really that different from the Woke? The Woke believe Trump supporters and all Republicans and conservatives at large to be 'bad guys' ('evil racists and white supremacists'), and in their view it justifies canceling, censoring and verbally abusing them. While in reality, it does not. What's the difference between the Woke and racists/homophobes there?
Perfect recent examples:
1. Sacrifice yourself with an untested poison to protect others
2. Even worse, send your kids to the slaughter to get the untested poison to protect Grandma and teachers
3. The whole Critical Race Theory curriculum
4. Reparations by ppl who never owned slaves to ppl who were never slaves
5. White “guilt”
6. Ppl of color don’t know how to or are somehow unable to get ID
7. The whole Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda
8. The Climate agenda
I could go on…..
You won't get anyone to join a campaign if you tell them they are acting for evil.
Tell them they are doing good and point them towards "bad people" and they'll do all you ask and utterly believe they are acting in human kinds best interest.
