The American constitutional system is based on mistrust of government power.

That's why there are three co-equal branches. The idea was that no one branch would become too powerful.

The press was supposed to keep an eye on the whole thing.

My point is that government officials who demand that we trust them are ignoring the fact that our system is specifically not based on trust.

Yeah and it's not only about trust to government. We can't blindly trust doctors, teachers, activists, etc. - anyone who we think is here to help us but in truth they aren't here to help, but quite the opposite.

Unfortunately, there is no perfect power structure. Power will always attract the power-hungry, thus will always be subject to corruption.

I disagree. Fatalism never accomplished anything.

Agreed! Better late than never though eh? Covid was the event that properly alerted me to the fact that our crappy government wasn't just stupid, nor uniquely so. Oh no, it became so obvious that there was a coordinated global agenda behind it all and all the niggling questions that I'd carried in my mind for years suddenly lined up and became a lightbulb red pill moment all at once. Like I was half awake, and then suddenly a loud noise and bam! I see it all.

Yeah better later than never indeed. I myself fully woke up only during COVID. But still, we shouldn't have been as trusting. Trust has to be earned, and institutions never could be trusted even I'd say.

Great observations and consequent questions, Alex! We’ve been gaslit by “authorities” for a very long time. If you have the opportunity watch or listen to Tucker’s interview of Catherine Austin Fits (of Solari) 🤯

I sadly agree with you. I was and still am just as bad, but I am trying to change.

That's the most important thing - that you're painfully aware now and are trying to change.

Perhaps our worst act of negligence is that we allowed the rise of a professional political class so that politics became a way to get rich rather than a way to perform public service. The founders of this country would have been horrified at this development which could not be further away from their concept of citizen legislators. So now we have a corrupt, narcissistic and unresponsive system of government which can never work to our advantage because it’s been designed not to.

That's too, but it was harder to prevent though. We could have totally prevented academic rot though if cared more for what our kids are being taught in schools.

This article is spot on! I’ve thought this for some time, because I recognize my own former naïveté and guilt in allowing others, without input, to make up rules for my life and those of my family. I’m allowing it no longer, spending time (that I’d rather spend in other ways) involved in local politics. It’s past time to get involved, as we are on the precipice of losing our freedoms altogether. Thank you for pointing this out.

Thank you! Yeah I think we went along with it because it's just easier to trust and do as others said than to question and to criticize. Even if we saw something is clearly wrong, we still preferred to stay silent not to cause conflict and not to be bad guys. But in the end we allowed actual bad guys to fuck us up. No more of that cowardice and gullibility.
