Old Political Frameworks Work No Longer

We Need to Change the Bird whose Wings are Dysfunctional

I believe we should stop thinking of ourselves as Left and right, conservatives and liberals at this point. After last eight years, all of those frameworks ceased to work, and all of those words lost any meaning. Don’t you see it yourselves? Everything is upside down now.

Classic Left were anti-war, anti-system, pro freedom and pro human rights. Modern Left are warmongering establishment and billionaire bootlickers rooting for tyranny and censorship.

Classic liberals were pro women, pro gay and pro secularism and well...pro freedom. Modern ‘liberals’ are anti women, anti gay, anti freedom, pro mandates, pro censorship and pro all kind of ideologies and cults from Wokeism to Islam.

You think our side didn’t change? Again, you might not like it but conservatives and right-wingers of the past were more pro war, pro establishment and pro rich. Now, MAGA are 100% pro working class, anti-war, anti-establishment and pro liberty. Also, modern conservatives are much more pro gay than they used to be because they realized that homosexuality is just a biological reality and doesn’t really threaten anyone including their religious beliefs.

So, conservatives had also changed a lot. It might be argued that conservatives evolved while liberals devolved, but the fact remains though - both Left and right aren’t what they used to be. Moreover, modern right have imbibed some positive traits of the classic Left (anti-war, pro working class, anti establishment, pro gay, etc.) while modern Left have imbibed some negative traits of the ‘old Right’ (pro establishment, pro war, pro censorship, etc.)

So, it’s all mixed now, and one can’t say who’s really Left and who’s really right now. In some ways, MAGA despite their Christian framework in its essence are much closer to the classic old school Left, especially combined with MAHA. On the other hand, Woke Left are much more like Bush era warmongering neocons or old-school pro establishment RINOs like Mitch McConnell (who even votes in full accord with DemoNrats now!).

So, could we really call MAGA conservative and right-wing when they imbibed so much positive stuff from classic liberal Left? Or could we still call Woke Leftists ‘liberal’ when they’re as illiberal as it can get? Not really.

Mind you I don’t offer to call MAGA Lefties or liberals, that also would be pretty inaccurate, because their framework isn’t really Leftist. Neither Woke Left with their collectivist groupthink are really conservative.

But I claim that due to all those changes the mere definitions ‘right and Left’, ‘liberal and conservatives’ had lost any meaning. Because well, there’s a new reality, and those old definitions and frameworks don’t reflect it any longer. Hence, we need to update them or better still to completely change our framework, change the bird whose ‘wings’ are not functional anymore.

How exactly would we do it? I’m not sure but while crafting this new bird, we need to change its fundamental defining factors. For example, being pro or anti establishment is more important now compared to being atheist or Christian, gay or straight. Maybe we should keep just one the most important defining factor - whether people still trust institutions (media, healthcare, entertainment, government, political parties) or not. Or, in the contrary, whether people still trust the evidence of their eyes, or believe the Narrative instead. I believe those factors would make much more functional bird than current one.
