What astonishes me the most about all those not-very-smart-people translating popular political opinions on literally everything on their social media (on American election, Israel-Palestine, Russia-Ukraine, COVID, climate, etc.) is their absolute CONVICTION that they are TOTALLY RIGHT about literally EVERYTHING. Not even any slightest shade of doubt that maybe, just maybe, they don't have a complete information on the issue at hand, that their opinions might have been influenced by their friends' opinions and media selective coverage at least SOMEWHAT, etc. No, they do really believe themselves to be absolutely right, without even having a first-hand evidence, without doing any research on the particular issue... To me, it's idiocy, short-sightedness and fanaticism.

But it's worse than that. Not only they believe themselves to be absolutely right, they believe you 'evil', 'hater' and 'bigot' for merely disagreeing with them. They don't give you the right for your own opinion even, which should be a natural right for everybody. They don't give you a right for disagreement either. They don't respect your opinion and even your RIGHT to have your opinion (even if we all are entitled to have our own opinions!), they respect only theirs. For them, their opinion is an absolute truth and yours is total delusion. Not even delusion, but worse. Deluded people might be excused by their own delusion, after all. They don't want you to be excused since they made up their mind that 'you're evil' already. So they don't give you an option to be deluded as well. For them, you're CONSCIOUSLY MAKING A WRONG MORAL CHOICE BEING FULLY AWARE THAT IT'S A WRONG MORAL CHOICE. In other words, you're an 'absolute evil'.

And this is what just astonishes me the most. Not only those people believe absolutely in their version of events pushed down on them by media and their social circles, they are also absolutely convinced that YOU BELIEVE IN THEIR VERSION OF EVENTS AS WELL. Hence, you are also AWARE as they are 'what's right and what's wrong', but you just on purpose make a wrong moral choice because you're just 'an asshole'. Right, just that. This is the gist of the worldview of millions of people in the West currently, especially 'young, progressive and educated ones'. Aren't you scared?

They can't even ALLOW the possibility that they might be wrong. More, they can't allow even that others might believe them wrong! For them, their political view is an absolute and undisputable truth, their Sacrament, their Bible or Quran. They're convinced that everyone believes it just as them. To be honest, the greater stupidity I can't even imagine, and I bet the levels of dumbness of humankind never cease to astonish me.

But I suppose I should allow that this is the influence of toxic mainstream media propaganda and social media bubbles on Western society. People are so used to hear the same things, same opinions all over again both in news and among their own friends that they can't even imagine that other opinions could even exist. They can't even imagine that some people might not believe that Israel is 'a terrible aggressor who occupies the land of poor Palestinian victims' but a young state trying to survive in the very hostile atmosphere and to defend its land from constant attacks of Islamic terrorists from HAMAS and Iran. They can't even imagine that for someone Trump isn't 'evil racist, white supremacist, sexist, Hitler incarnate and the worst human being on Earth' as their media and their circles were telling them, but just a guy who tried to care of American working class and to protect it both from illegal immigration and from high taxation and elitist demands. No, this is beyond imaginable for those people. They lived in their bubbles for so long that they had lost all touch with reality. And that what scares me the most. If COVID lockdowns forced people to spend even more time on Internet (e.g., in their bubbles), just in one decade billions of people would be living in completely imagined, virtual reality of the narratives pushed on them by media (and forces behind them like large global corporations). That scares me beyond the imaginable.
