So I read the article that you linked. I have watched the dumbing down of society, it has been going on for at least 35 yrs, and that affects people's use of language. Generations after X, because of several combined factors,will take a word me just willy nilly change the use/definitions. My best example is the word ruminate. About 23 years ago, apparently the psych fields decided

to make it a negative word. They had a word and it dir perfectly, dwell, dwelling; as in on an issue.
