Cost of Lockdowns, Not of Pandemic
It's NOT the Virus who Shut Down Our Everything
My three year old piece proved 100% correct now.
People, please, stop telling me about 'terrible cost of the pandemic', it's dishonest. When you hear media saying that 'pandemic cost our economy billions of dollars', it's NOT about the cost of pandemic but about the COST OF THE LOCKDOWNS.
Pandemic didn't force businesses to shut down and all our lives to be suspended for indefinite term. Governments did. It's draconian lockdowns which destroyed our economy and public mental health and cost us billions of dollars, not pandemic.
Don't also tell me that 'lockdowns were absolutely necessary to save lives'. No, they were not. There is NO SOLID DATA that stricter lockdowns had actually saved more lives than milder restrictions. Look at Spain, France and Italy in EU with strictest lockdowns and still tremendous death toll from COVID, and look at Nordic countries with mild restrictions and much fewer death toll (even in Sweden with no lockdown at all). Look at open Florida in US and California or New York with strict lockdowns, and compare their death tolls. So, there is no solid proof that strict lockdowns did anything to combat pandemic and save lives (there is even recent research about it), but lockdowns FOR SURE had destroyed our economies and population's mental health.
Positive effects of lockdowns are not proven, the great harm they had done to us is proven with 100% certainty. And this harm would be even greater with time. So, it's not 'the cost of pandemic', it's the cost of our governments' incompetent, inept and paranoia based response to it.
Now why does it matter how do we call it? Because words matter. Words are everything. If you say 'the cost of pandemic', then there is no one to blame, it was just a 'global disaster' which hit us all. If you say 'the cost of the lockdowns', then our governments and health experts they were listening to are to blame for this devastating and incompetent response. If it's 'the cost of pandemic', then no one can be held accountable for it but 'this nasty virus'. If its the cost of the lockdowns (as it really is), then politicians and health experts who had made wrong decisions could be held accountable for them. So you see, the words matter, and a lot.
Media are telling you about 'the cost of pandemic' so the politicians responsible for devastating lockdowns decisions wouldn't be held accountable. Media want to trick you into believing that 'it's all was just a virus fault'. Don't fall for it. Again, virus didn't force businesses to close down. Governments did. It's governments who destroyed your economy and mental health by their incompetent decisions, not the virus. And this wasn't even necessary medical wise. So don't let them escape responsibility. Speak about cost of the lockdowns (not 'cost of pandemic'!), and hold politicians and medical experts ACCOUNTABLE for their faulty and harmful decisions.
The lockdowns were a huge social engineering experiment to see how far they could actually go taking away our rights. We were played- Big time! Shame on us.
Looking back, I often wonder if the government regulators and media were really stupid enough to believe that you could shut down the economy, then turn it back on, like flipping a switch, and no lasting harm would be done.
Much of the inflation we now suffer is the result of the damage done to the supply chains by the lockdowns. It will be years before the damage is repaired, IF the government regulators will allow the economic system to repair itself. Which they probably will not. Because they probably are really that stupid. Vicious, authoritarian, and stupid.
