We Don't have an Honest Discussion on Pretty much Every Issue Anymore
Without a Debate, there is No Democracy
The main problem with modern politics is that we don't have an honest discussion on pretty much EVERY political issue any longer. Instead, certain views and certain policies are aggressively pushed down on us via mainstream media and social media, and people are expected to blindly obey all, however controversial, new rules and policies, and to immediately adhere to a position, however radical. This is happening with every regard, on every major political subject - Ukraine, COVID, climate, 'antiracist' and trans activism, immigration, etc. People are not allowed to disagree and critisize popular opinions and dominant narratives anymore. They can't even stay neutral - because 'silence is violence', as BLM violent rioters had proclaimed. Hence, adhering to a certain position is a must for everyone now. Not even neutrality is allowed any longer.
I don't know about you but I find it extremely problematic. Demanding a strong adherence to a certain political position from literally everybody and not allowing people to even stay neutral is a hallmark of every totalitarian society. USSR practiced this approach, and Nazi are famous for a phrase 'if you're not with us, you're against us'. Now, if democratic society embraced similar approach, it ceases to be democratic straight away. To claim that 'if you're not an anti-racist, then you're racist' is actually fascist, and ridiculous in addition. It's the same as to claim that if you're not a cop, you must be a criminal.
The absence of an honest discussion and pushing down certain policies without allowing to even question them is even more dangerous. To use science, or, more precisely, a scientific authority, to justify governmental tyranny is even worse. Again, science doesn't work like that - science consists of multiple experts with different scientific perspectives, and scientific consensus as such is pretty rare, and often is a subject to a change. We now have a strong 'scientific consensus' almost on every issue - climate, pandemics, etc. Thus, it's not an actual scientific consensus, but a certain dogma pushed by scientific authority down to every scientist instead. But when science becomes dogmatic and authoritarian, it's death of science.
Inability to question establishment and its policies is even worse. It's the death of democracy, and the birth of tyranny. EVERY POLITICIAN AND EVERY POLICY is a subject to criticism. If this is not maintained any longer, it's not a democracy any longer. And at least in US, Democratic party and Biden administration policies and decisions are above any criticism, and are not allowed to question. If you do, you would be censored, banned from social media and verbally abused by ‘Woke militia' in addition (as Nicki Minaj example had shown). US, hence, are not a democracy any longer, but a corporate tyranny. Only tyrants censor all the political opponents, stifle freedom of speech and honest discussions, and push down their narrative and their policies as an absolute truth, and demand from everyone to adhere to their stand.
I don't know about you but I can't trust anything coming from the authorities and establishment if there's no honest discussion on it, and people aren't allowed to question it. Only honest discussion and healthy debate can ensure that everyone's interests are taken into account, and that we're actually seeking optimal solutions for everyone and not certain political benefits for a certain political party. If we don't have this discussion, we can't trust any of the proposed policies, and politicians and political parties proposing them as well. Similarly we can't trust 'experts' like Dr Fauci whose authority isn't even allowed to be questioned, despite his countless failures. Neither can we trust media who blindly regurgitate establishment propaganda instead of asking difficult questions on behalf of population as honest journalists would do.
Again, if we can't question politicians and their experts, or, if we do, we can't hope for an honest answer, it should alarm everyone of us. If everyone is demanded to adhere to a certain political position, however radical and controversial, it should alarm all of us. If we are discouraged from critical thinking and doing our independent research prior to making any decision, but are encouraged to blindly trust and obey every word and every mandate of the authorities, it should alarm us most of all. It should cause us to rebel against such system and such authorities straight away.
