Stop Whitewashing Classic Old School Villains!

Recent whitewashing of Putin by some MAGA people made me think that many Americans are so pissed off with Wokeness that they completely forgotten that there are other types of evil, not just Woke one (but for example classic old school bloody tyrants like Putin or classic Communist dictatorships like China or even ‘traditionalist’ Islamist Shariah theocracies - and ALL of them stand against Wokeness by the way!), and that some people and regimes might oppose Wokeness not out of the pure goodness of their hearts or even full realization of the scale of Woke evil but SIMPLY because they see Wokeness as a foreign ideology competing with their OWN, NO LESS TOXIC one. Many Americans seem to not understand it, sadly, and hail any foreign anti-Woke figure like Belarus Lukashenko, Hungarian Orban, Putin or even Chinese Xi (!!) as a ‘hero’. That’s a grievous and fatal mistake.

Indeed, if we look deeper we would see that Wokeness is being spread ONLY in the West or places under Western orbit like Latin America. The rest of the world firmly rejects Wokeness or even fiercely opposes it. That includes Islamic ‘Shariah’ world, Communist China, Putin’s Russia and to some extent even Eastern Europe. Does it mean all of those places are good ones and all their leaders are ‘heroes’? Not really.

Not really. In the contrary, most of those places are FAR WORSE than the West, even Woke West! Look at Islamist ‘Shariah dictatorships’ which treat their women as a chattel, murder ‘blasphemers and apostates’, murder gay men but legalized pedophilia as a ‘child marriage’ (so much for ‘traditionalist’ religious utopias by the way but it’s a topic for entirely another discussion). Look at Communist China with their totalitarian mass surveillance which made Western WEF sick fascist dream a terrible reality. Look at Putin’s Russia with no freedoms and human rights at all, where people can be jailed for critisizing Putin, with sky high crime rates and extreme poverty, with virtually non-existent middle class and with sky high corruption of the rich elite and Putin’s oligarchs. NONE of these places is better than the West, EVEN Woke West! Even Eastern Europe isn’t such paradise as many Americans depict it - for example, there’s a rampant Russophobia and ultra nationalist sentiments here (UkroNazi don’t exist in a vacuum).

So, all of those places aren’t that great as they might appear to Americans from across the ocean, yet ALL OF THEM oppose Wokeness. So maybe, just maybe, opposing Wokeness isn’t ONLY criteria of human goodness? Sigh.

But why do these countries and their leaders oppose Wokeism then? Because they perceive it as a foreign threat, an alien ideology which is threatening their power by competing with their OWN, local ideology, usually no less toxic (either Islam, Communism or Putin’s anti-Western imperialism). That’s the ONLY reason. If Wokeness could have increased their power, they would have adopted it 100%, have no doubt of that. All their posing hypocritical ‘moral stands’ mean nothing, absolutely nothing. It’s time for you to finally STOP believing what people are saying and look at their ACTIONS instead.

All of those evil regimes are fighting Wokeness, have no doubt. Not just Putin and Eastern Europe - American ‘heroes’, but Communist China and Islamist world too. CCP puts a lot of effort into preserving Chinese national culture and opposing Western one. Same goes to Islamist societies even politically friendly to the West like Saudi Arabia and UAE. Being in diplomatic relations with the West doesn’t prevent them from opposing it culturally.

Now, Americans can make ‘heroes’ out of Putin and Eastern European leaders because they’re Christians (or appear so) and white, but could you do the same with Communist China and Islamist world? I hardly think so. Yet they also fiercely OPPOSE Wokeness, so they should be your ‘heroes’ too. Nope? Then stop believing that everyone opposing Wokeness is a hero, and that the Wokeness is the ONLY evil in this world!

Yeah, I understand American frustration with Wokeness pretty well. I’m frustrated with it myself, pretty much, so I feel you. However, coming from Russia, I’m well aware that there are another kinds of evil too, not just Wokeness, and they are no less toxic.

The problem with Americans is that they take all their freedoms and human rights and relative safety and economic prosperity for granted, and they naively assume it’s the SAME everywhere in the world, so in their view in America it’s even WORSE because of Wokeness (and other parts of the world aren’t Woke). However, Americans totally ignore extreme poverty and corruption and sky high crime rates in many parts of the world, same as total absence of ANY freedoms and human rights.

You as Americans might complain of DemoNrats destroying American freedoms and rights but have you ever thought that such places as China and Russia and Iran HAD NEVER BEEN FREE to begin with? You as Americans were justly outraged by BLM lawless violence but have you ever thought that in some countries it’s a daily routine? You as Americans might complain of growing inflation and impoverishing of the middle class under Biden regime but have you ever thought that in some places like your cherished Putin’s Russia middle class is VIRTUALLY NON EXISTENT? And such examples are multitude.

My main point is that Americans should stop projecting their own American reality onto the rest of the world and naively assume that ‘everywhere is the same as in US’ (yeah, and everyone everywhere speaks English too, right). Instead (and I’m saying it as a Russian immigrant!) Americans should BE GRATEFUL for their constitutional freedoms and rights, for their economic prosperity and welfare because in MOST PLACES in the world NONE OF IT EXIST.

Surely, American society has its problems - Wokeism and Big Corp most famously, but please don’t assume it’s better in other places of the world and STOP perceiving any country or society rejecting Wokeness as paradise on Earth and your personal utopia. It’s very toxic and dangerous delusion.

Actually, I believe, that just ONE YEAR in Russia or China would be more than enough to heal Americans from this toxic delusion, to make them very grateful for being Americans and to make them realize that Wokeism indeed isn’t the ONLY problem the world has, and that anti-Woke societies ironically might be much worse than Woke ones.

That also comes from the fact that anti-Woke stand of those countries and regimes stems from their anti-Western one (which includes opposing EVERYTHING Western including human rights, freedoms, democracy, constitution, etc.) Putin or Xi do NOT distinguish between just Western or Woke influence - BOTH are equally evil and harmful ‘degeneration’ for them. That is, for them transing your kids and protection of women and kids from domestic violence are EQUALLY ‘evil’ and ‘degenerative’. Americans should keep that in mind.

That is, Americans should keep in mind that let’s say Putin’s ideologues like Aleksandr Dugin most famously reject not just transing your kids or even gay marriage but EVERYTHING American up to American ideal of a constitutional Republic and values of their founding fathers. For Dugin and other ideologues like him, unrestricted ‘traditionalist’ monarchy or even theocracy similar to Shariah one is an ideal. I don’t believe that ANY American however conservative and religious would like to live in such an ‘ideal’. It’s fundamentally anti-American and anti-freedom.

So, before cheering for Putin’s Russia or any other seemingly anti-Woke conservative society, please consider all I said here and be grateful that you live in America, which, EVEN infected by Wokeness and BigCorp, is STILL OSTENSIBLY BETTER than most parts of the world, with many regards.
