Modern Western Policies are Psychopathic
Our Society is in the Grasp of Mass Formation Psychosis
I realized what bothers me with regards to quite a few issues of modern Western policies - namely, Ukraine, COVID, climate change, 'systemic racism' and trans radicalism. What is common for all of these cases is that our 'leaders' propose to sacrifice our everything for any of those causes. There's no balanced approach to any of them. We should have sacrificed our everything just to fight COVID - our freedoms and rights, our economy and mental health, our other physical diseases, literally our everything. Now we should give all our money away to ‘support Ukraine’. The question isn't even about is COVID or Putin serious enough threat for that or not the but about how healthy is it overall to sacrifice our everything to fight just one single thing. It's not logical and not rational, it's psychopathic.
Edgar Allan Poe (and 19th century psychiatrists) called this behavior 'monomania' in his story 'Berenice'. Monomania means exaggerated or obsessive enthusiasm for or preoccupation with one single thing. Modern psychology calls this idée fixe. Either way, this fixation is a partial insanity. People who suffer from it are unable to switch their attention to anything else from the object of their obsession. This is what we have now with Ukraine, and two years ago had with COVID.
But not only with COVID and Ukraine though. Other political issues I mentioned are symptomatic of the same psychopathy as well. For example, we should sacrifice women and kid rights for the sake of trans activism. And our language as well. We should give up our cars, flights, meat, central heating and all our way of life to 'fight climate change'. Critical Race Theorists want to upend all our Western culture and civilization due to is alleged 'systemic racism'. Aren't all of those cases are perfect examples of idée fixe on state level?
I'm not saying anything about how serious abovementioned threats really are (though in my estimation all of those concerns are pretty overblown). However, no matter how serious certain problem is, or how serious do we perceive it to be, it's never a good idea to give up our everything for the sake of just one single thing. We always need to choose a balanced approach and to weigh all the aspects in our decision making. We can't fight COVID at the expense of freedoms and human rights, poverty and mental health problems, suicides and domestic violence. We simply can't ignore all of those issues for the sake of one single virus! Similarly we can't trample on women and kids right for the sake of trans activism. We always need to take into account EVERYTHING, or as much as we can, and make a final decision as a trade off, not as a sacrifice of everything for one single thing, sigh.
It's pretty worrying though that psychopathy in a shape of obsession with one single thing at the expense of everything, along with unprecedented levels of paranoia, hysteria and sensitivity generated around this thing became out normal response to challenges. In fact, it is pretty scary. Look at the levels of paranoia in society with regard to COVID and climate. Even if those threats were really that imminent, it's still no reason for hysteria and paranoia: all problems should be approached with cool head, not with mind clouded with paranoia. But those threats aren't even that imminent though. To get so overly paranoid over a virus with 1% mortality rate for young healthy people is psychopathic on its own, for example.
Look also at the levels of sensitivities surrounding trans or racial activities! Dare to critisize BLM in any way (even its obvious violence and other wrongdoings), or to counter any of trans activists demands (including giving hormones to kids which is a borderline child abuse) and you would be canceled, banned, verbally abused, fired from all the jobs and even physically assaulted. By the people who claim to be so tolerant and virtuous, ironically. Anyway, this is certainly unhealthy.
We live in unhealthy, psychopathic political climate, and our main political goals are just monomaniac obsessions sacrificing our everything for the sake of one single thing.
