All Red Lines were Crossed in the West
Abusive Governments and Activists had Crossed All Our Red Lines Indeed
When we're talking of personal relationships, there is always a red line which other people should not cross. This red line might differ for different people but most of people still have it alright (and those who don't should seriously think of what is a red line for them). What are those red lines?
For many it is physical violence and abuse. For others it's cheating in a committed relationship. For me personally it’s betrayal (not necessary cheating, but any serious breach of trust). For someone else it might be something else. But it is there, nevertheless. After other people crossed our red lines, our relationship with them usually comes to its end (or at least there are severe consequences for crossing the red lines). No matter how people apologize afterwards, no matter which reasons they had provided for crossing our red line - they had still crossed it, and by doing they essentially destroyed our relationship. Period. It's no matter how much we pissed someone off so they decided to hit us physically, physical violence is still no go. It is a red line.
Now, why don't we have those red lines as a society as well? Certain things which are unacceptable for us as for a society and doing which shouldn't be allowed neither for private activists nor for governments. Our red lines. It seems at superficial glance that we still have them. We don't let our governments burn people in gas ovens anymore, right? So everything is alright with our red lines. Or not?
I believe that civilized and democratic society should have more red lines than the one mentioned above though. For instance, child abuse should be a red line. Physical violence against other people or their property should be a red line. Discrimination and segregation of the whole groups of people should be a red line as well. Forcing people to do things against their will should be a red line too. No matter how you'd justify crossing it, you simply cannot cross it. It's a red line. Understand now where I'm heading?
But we don't have those red lines anymore. Trans activists are pushing for hormones and surgeries for kids under 12. Our governments push for masking and vaxing kids under 12 as well. Two gross cases of child abuse disguised as 'trans rights' or 'pandemic safety rules'. BLM and Antifa violence in US for the whole ‘summer of love’ of 2020 was cheered and encouraged, not condemned. Worst of all, there's a push for global vax mandates now again to discriminate against people, segregate them, and deprive them of their free will.
Again, it doesn't matter how governments or activists justify these things. Some things are just unacceptable, no matter which 'greater good' would be achieved by doing them. What if governments told you to eat your own shit to 'save the planet' as a 'natural food recycling'? Or to kill your kids to stop overpopulation and hence save the planet as well? Mind you we'd indeed stop overpopulation and, thus, pollution and deforestation caused by the consequences of this overpopulation, if we'd just murder about five billions of people. But would you like to save the planet at such a price? Same as are you ready to go into a global concentration camp to save yourself from a new global pandemic, real or imaginary?
When you hear of the 'sacrifices for the greater good', you should be very alarmed. After all, the priests of pagan times used to sacrifice thousands of innocent people on the altars of cruel gods for the 'greater good' either - to pacify the gods and hence deflect plagues or draughts. It's not about whether it worked or not (though by the way believe that vaccine mandates saved us from COVID no more than human sacrifices of antiquity saved people of those times from plagues). But it's about that even if it worked, you just can't buy prosperity at such a price. Why do I even have to remind people of that?
We should have more red lines as a society. We should tell loud and clear NO to any government or activist who would try to cross them. No matter by which noble words they try to justify it - safety, public health, climate and planet, trans rights or Black Lives - they are still evil abusers who try to cross our red lines and to harm us as a society. We need to resist them, not to give in to them. Again, irrespective to whether their proposed solution would solve the problem they claim to fight or not. Some solutions are just unacceptable morally even if they're effective (though again vaccine passports even aren't even effective but it's entirely another story). I hope I made a good analogy and was heard here.
I love the red line analogy and connecting what’s happening in the world to something smaller and more personal to the person
Great article, Alex.
