I actually occasionally found a huge gap indeed in radical trans narrative, and I wonder why no one, not even conservatives, had spotted it before. I mean, trans activists are now praising hormones and gender reassigning surgeries as 'life-saving', and even justify giving them to kids by claiming that 'suffering from gender dysphoria is so intolerable' that even risks related to hormones and surgeries in the young age are better than that. However, is this suffer from gender dysphoria without hormones and surgeries is so intolerable indeed?
History tells us that actually NO, it's not. I mean, trans and non-binary people always existed, from the dawn of time, just like gay and bisexual people. But gender reassignment surgeries and trans hormones are relatively new thing which appeared only in the end of 20th century. So, trans people of the past didn't have any way to change their biological sex until that. So I have a question then - how trans people lived with it for centuries? Was their life indeed 'intolerable suffer' because they couldn't get into the body their preferred? I somehow do not think so. There are some historical records of famous cross-dressers and allegedly trans people from Middle Age. They seemed to be enjoying their lives at least somewhat, not committing suicide because they were 'trapped in the wrong body'.
Now, I don't want to deny or diminish the issue of gender dysphoria. I know that it's real and might be pretty tough. I do not deny that at least for some people hormones and surgeries might be really helpful, and really giving them new and better lives. However, I do not tolerate toxic exaggerations and one-sided approach to this issue, sometimes on the border of lies and misinformation coming from radical trans activists and medical industry. Examples of that?
For instance, many radical trans activists claim that gender dysphoria is so severe that if it's not alleviated with hormones and surgeries IMMEDIATELY (irrespective to the age of the sufferer!), people might even commit suicide out of it. Now, there is a lot of toxic exaggerations and lies whose purpose is to intimidate people into obeying every activists' demand. First of all, both the severity of gender dysphoria and need for hormones and surgery as means to alleviate it are largely exaggerated - after all, trans people lived for centuries and for millennia without any hormones and surgeries, and weren't committing suicides as I pointed out. It proves that it's at least possible to be a trans person and to live your life without hormones and surgeries. Furthermore, I argue that even in case of gender dysphoria, hormones and surgeries are not always the best solution. Sometimes, trans people could find other ways to express their inner femininity/masculinity without changing their bodies so drastically (cross-dressing, make-up, mannerisms, etc.) Speaking of kids, I already told before that kids couldn't possibly know to which gender they belong before their gender even manifested itself during puberty. So as you can see, the claims that gender dysphoria should be ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY alleviated ONLY with hormones and surgeries is a lie.
Again, my point isn't to diminish or deny gender dysphoria, and not even to discourage people from using hormones and gender reassignment surgeries at large. My point is, that based at least on our history, hormones and surgeries were not available for this purpose for the most part, and yet trans people weren't committing suicides in mass due to it. My point that perhaps even now hormones and surgeries aren't the only and perhaps not even the best solution in case of gender dysphoria. It's a very complex issue, and should be treated in many different ways. To push the same way - hormones and surgeries - on all trans people, denying their individual differences and inclinations, is both morally and scientifically wrong. It benefits no one but Pharma companies who would get more money from people on expensive trans medication. Hence Pharma companies want to hook people on this medication from as early age as possible. Hence you see activists pushing for hormones and surgeries for kids. Hence we should resist it. It's not for the benefit of trans people but for the profits of Pharma companies.
